“If any point of the country concept, It is to be found in mothers of this country… They are, definitely, the offended country”, with this remarkable phrase of the poet, historian and Salvadoran journalist, Italo López Vallecillos, It summarizes the essence of the play “If you had not been born”.
This part of the group Salvador “The Cachada”, under the direction of Egly Larreynaga, this weekend was presented at the Teatro De Barrio in Madrid, Spain.
“If you had not been born” addresses the reality of Salvadoran women, the difficulties you face in everyday life and how situations that cross will normalize in a matriarchal society, where men abandon their children.
According to its director, the idea of the script came when a member of the group became pregnant. “Of course it was a mother of two children, however I was very confused, He knew firsthand what it meant. He asked me to accompany her to a laboratory which would give the definitive answer to the test”.
And so, the story of six women was taking style and shape to be represented on stage. Stories of women struggling tirelessly to cope alone with their children in a society that seems to be invisible to pain; and where the same female gender solidarity shown little from comments and actions affecting women.
When they started talking, “There was everything in his stories, tenderness, Rage, love, soledad, violations ... That afternoon I asked if they were all willing to tell those stories on stage, and they said yes”, account Larreynaga.
After the launch in 2015, this play has been presented in Costa Rica, Mexico, and in Spain for the second time. Of course, in El Salvador could not miss, due to the stunning success and acceptance.
In his second visit to the Iberian country, the work has been presented in Pamplona, Miranda de Ebro, Getxo (Basque Country) Madrid, and Alcala de Henares.
In addition to presentations, the group “The Cachada” He chatted with the audience to tell how the work changed their lives to them as actresses and their families. The organization Calama Women's Fund “He has made all this possible”, He said one of its members.
