The Association of Salvadorans in Catalonia together with the organization Ruido Photo, Launch an awareness campaign on the migration of Salvadorans to this region of Spain.
The initiative is supported by the Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation, the municipalities of Barcelona, El Prat de Llobregat, Gavá and Villadecans; and is part of the Education for Development project that involves actions in Catalonia and El Salvador.
The campaign seeks to make the Salvadoran population known, through the testimony of four Salvadorans, the situations that have prompted them to emigrate and what are the advantages and disadvantages of living in Catalonia.
It also seeks to raise awareness in Catalan society about the need for Salvadorans to leave their country..
For this reason, as explained by the president of the Association of Salvadorans in Catalonia, Maria Elena Henríquez, The project aims to reach Salvadoran society through various media to publicize these testimonies, and the Catalan society, through photographic and audiovisual exhibitions in the municipalities involved and with educational workshops in local institutes when the school year begins 2021, in September.
Since the last quarter of 2020 until March 2021, It has been possible to prepare this audiovisual content with which the Association seeks to raise awareness about the migration of Salvadorans.
According to the National Institute of Statistics of Spain, in the region of Catalonia are officially registered 6,210 Salvadorans, of which 3,613 they are women and 2,597 they are men.
