Vatican spokesman, Greg Burke, and his deputy resigned their positions by surprise.
It's a statement, the Holy See said the Pope Francisco accepted their resignations Monday.

In his Twitter account, Burke said his decision and Paloma Garcia Ovejero, Deputy Director of the Press Office of the Holy See, It will be effective from 1 from January.

"At this time of transition in Vatican communications, we believe it is better that the Holy Father is completely free to form a new team ", Burke said.

The Pope appointed as interim substitute Alessandro Gisotti, member of the Vatican press office.
