President of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo informed in his speech to the nation that negotiations with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer for the acquisition of pediatric vaccines against covid-19 have concluded, for minors of 5 a 11 years, and that this Sunday the country would receive the first batch.

"In that sense, I announce that, according to information from Pfizer Belgium, Panama must be receiving this Sunday, to 11:15 of the night, the first batch of 60 thousand doses of pediatric vaccines, aimed at immunizing our children from 5 a 11 years", he explained.

President Cortizo also recognized that the execution of the vaccination strategy in Panama, Operation PanaVAC-19, with 2 thousand 394 missions that include 2 thousand 200 aerial and 194 maritime, It has been the most complex and successful logistics operation in the country.

To the date, Panama has received a total of 9 millions 91 thousand 470 dose. According to the report of the Expanded Program on Immunization (DAD), more than 6 million doses against Covid-19 to reach a 81.4% of the target population greater than 12 years with the two doses.

According to official data from the Pan American Health Organization (OPS), Panama ranks as the fourth country in America with the most accumulated doses after Mexico, United States and Chile.
