Pfizer y Unitaid, the initiative created by the WHO (World Health Organization) in health emergencies, agreed to produce generics of their new coronavirus pill, in order to make it more accessible to the world's most vulnerable countries.
Patent release by Pfizer means licensing to generic manufacturers to develop FP-07321332, experimental medicine combining ritonavir in low doses, which reduces by 90% the risk of deaths, as explained by the American pharmacist.
The Latin American countries that will benefit are: Belice, Bolivia, The Savior, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
The new treatment is pending approval by the regulatory authorities of the different countries, although experts claim thatinitial results are promising.
