Panama closes the week with Omicron cases in patients vaccinated against Covid-19

Panama – The health authorities of Panama this week identified nine cases of coronavirus with the Omicron variant, of which six are new cases. These were identified through the genomic surveillance system., epidemiological and traceability.

Those infected with this variant have a history of travel to South Africa, Colombia, Spain, United States and Puerto Rico. There is only one with no history of traveling abroad.

Of confirmed cases with the Omicron variant, seven are male and two female patients aged between 24 Y 50 years. Everyone has two doses against Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health also reported 17 suspected cases that are under analysis by the Gorgas Commemorative Institute for Health Studies.

The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, in your Christmas message, reiterated the call to the population to maintain biosecurity measures.

Sucre recommended that the population avoid attending crowded events and go to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

The report of the Expanded Program on Immunization reveals that up to now, 6 millions 223,675 doses of vaccines against Covid-19.

of the target population, of 12 years on, the 90.4% is covered with first dose and 81.3% with second dose.

In Panama they report 486,377 confirmed cumulative cases of which 865 are new cases.
