The Savior – The deputies of the Legislative Assembly awarded the honorary decoration of "Deserving Daughter of El Salvador" to the mountaineer Alfa Karina Arrué, first Salvadoran person to conquer the top of Mount Everest.
“I feel very grateful for the recognition and very honored to be able to represent my country. Thank the deputies for the work they are doing for the development and prosperity of our country", expressed the mountaineer to the parliamentarians.
The recognition to Arrué was delivered by the president of the Legislative Assembly Ernesto Castro, who, at the same time, reiterated his admiration for the mountaineer for her sporting achievement.
“Today we have before us a woman who has defied all possible obstacles to achieve a milestone in history.. You worked hard for years to train and become the first Salvadoran to reach the top of Everest. While you climbed, you were accompanied by a flag and a backpack that carried the dreams of many girls., that's why I congratulate you, since you never gave up", castro expressed.
On the other hand, Arrué recognized that receiving this type of recognition commits her to continue sharing her experience with the new generations and thus serve as inspiration for Salvadorans to believe that they are capable of achieving great things..
“I hope I can continue sharing this experience with the new generations and that they are inspired to set high goals and dream big., and show that Salvadorans can achieve great things when we set our minds to it”, concluded the mountaineer.
Arrué, conquered Everest on his second attempt, since last year the harsh weather conditions only allowed him to exceed the 8,000 masl.
It was last Wednesday night 11 May in which Alfa Karina achieved the historic milestone of taking the flag of El Salvador to the highest point on the planet, with 8,848.86 masl.
