World – The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, began a tour of Asia on Monday amid decreasing tensions with China over the ownership of Taiwan's sovereignty. The doubt is due to the hermetic information about whether Pelosi will make the visit to the Taiwanese island effective.

The American television networks CNN and the Taiwanese TVBS affirmed this Monday, without identifying their sources, that Pelosi has Taiwan included in her tour.

Reports of a plan to visit Taiwan have angered Chinese authorities and caused unrest even in the White House., in the midst of attempts by the president of the United States, Democrat Joe Biden to placate the tension with Beijing.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry warned today that a visit by Pelosi to Taiwan “would seriously threaten peace and stability” of the Taiwan Strait.

“If the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, visit taiwan,China will take firm and resolute countermeasures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”, said ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, without specifying which ones.

China considers Taiwan as one of its provinces that has not yet managed to reunite with the rest of its territory since the end of the Chinese civil war and has repeatedly warned of the possibility of recovering it., by force if necessary.

The Chinese government opposes any initiative that gives international legitimacy to the Taiwanese authorities and any official contact between Taiwan and other countries..
