Argentine Lionel Messi wins the award again “Golden Ball”, thus winning his sixth trophy and beat Cristiano Ronaldo, which has five similar awards.

Messi had been absent from this award from the 2015, when he won his fifth gold ball.

This time, the ceremony took place at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France. In the search for the conquest of the long-awaited prize was also the Dutch Virgil van Dijk, Mane (both Champions of the Champions League with Liverpool) and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 10 Barcelona and the Argentine team thanked those who voted for him, turning out to be the most voted. Messi argued: “We spent a year that, even if we win or lose, it was a great year and I thank you. I remembered the first time I received my Ballon d'Or, had 22 years and I came with my brothers, what I was living was unthinkable to me. Now that I'm receiving this award, it's a great personal moment, with my children and wife”.

He asserted that over time, each time the moment of its withdrawal approaches, and said: “Thank God I can continue doing what I like and I hope I can have many more years to continue doing it.”.
