Argentine Lionel Messi and American Megan Rapinoe were established as the best footballers of the year.
The award was presented by FIFA at a gala held in Milan, Italy, where he paraded a crowded cast of stars of world football.
The 10 Barcelona won this individual award for the first time, after beating Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and Dutch Van Dijk in the voting.
This trophy is decided by a vote of the captains and coaches of all the national teams affiliated to FIFA on the five continents..
After the FIFA president announced the winner Messi, the footballer held in his speech: “I want to thank everyone who decided that this recognition is for me. Despite how cute these accolades are, They are a secondary thing, the first thing is the collective”.

On the other hand, On the female side, the winner was Megan Rapinoe after beating her compatriot Alex Morgan and the Englishwoman Lucy Bronze. Megan came to stand out as the best player and scorer of the World Cup in France.
Rapinoe after receiving the award highlighted: “I thank my family, to my twin sister, to my girlfriend and everyone who has supported me”.
