El Salvador - The National Civil Police (PNC) captured José Alexander Martínez, who is a suspect in the disappearance of brothers Karen and Eduardo Guerrero. The case of the young people generated alarm among the citizens of the country, as it became a reflection of the increase in disappearances.

The whereabouts of the young people are still unknown and since mid-September their parents have demanded the location and return of their children..

The victims hired a private transport service and the vehicle that picked them up was driven by the suspect, who led them in an unknown direction. The authorities continue with the corresponding investigations to clarify the case.

Different complaints about missing persons in El Salvador are shared on social networks, they are mostly young. According to Silvia Elisondo, spokesperson for the digital initiative Alert Raquel assures that so far this year they have issued 172 early warning for disappearances.

"Most are minors, the average is 15 a 17 years, mainly in the urban area of ​​the department of San Salvador ".

Complaints between January and April of this year soared in a 112%, with respect to the same period of 2020, according to figures from the Attorney General's Office.
