The Savior – The Embassy of the United States in the Republic of El Salvador announces the arrival of career diplomat Katherine Duffy Dueholm, who assumes the position of Minister Counselor in substitution of Brendan O'Brien.
The Mrs. Dueholm will serve as acting Chargé d'Affaires pending the arrival of an ambassador confirmed by the United States Senate.
Before beginning his three-year assignment in El Salvador, The Mrs. Dueholm served as Director of Mexican Affairs at the United States Department of State. Before that, was the Director for Caribbean Affairs of 2018 a 2020 and director in the Office of Legislative Affairs of the Department of State of 2016 a 2017.
She has also served as Minister Counselor in Timor-Leste, including more than six months as Charge d'Affaires. Her other diplomatic missions abroad include Botswana, Germany, Guiana and Brazil.
in Washington, she worked as a Special Assistant to then-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and as Deputy Director for the US-Chile Free Trade Agreement in the Office of the US Trade Representative.
Before joining the State Department, The Mrs. Dueholm worked at the White House on the successful effort to pass the North American Free Trade Agreement..
