The Savior – The Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River (THE) inaugurated the 2nd. High Level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA), in conjunction with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA, acronym in English).
In this world meeting the challenges will be discussed and agreements will be established to promote a true deployment of geothermal energy in the world; also, it has the presence of the International Geothermal Association (FAMILY, acronym in English), world Bank, the Mexican Geothermal Association and other international organizations.
In the GGA participate around 45 geothermal country delegations, being some of these coming from the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Kenya, Italy, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Japan, European countries and other Central American nations.
The world summit is held in El Salvador from this Friday until next 1 October, so that the participants can learn how this type of energy works in the country and the benefits for the environment.
“It is a pleasure to be in this country. This is the opportunity to discuss how we can accelerate the path for the use of geothermal resources worldwide”, commented the director general of IRENA, Francesco La Camera.
El Salvador is one of the few countries 25 % of the energy matrix comes from geothermal, assured the president of CEL, Daniel Alvarez.
