Trump's former lawyer will be released due to coronavirus health crisis

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer, that he withheld information from Congress and was convicted of eight criminal charges, will be released in the next few days.

Cohen, who was sentenced to three years in prison in New York, he will regain his freedom, due to the measure of this State, to decongest the prisons where positive cases of Covid-19 are registered.

In the last days, 14 prisoners and seven members of the prison staff tested positive.

Cohen was to serve his sentence until November 2021; but nevertheless, due to the health crisis caused by the outbreak and the expansion of the coronavirus, continue to serve his sentence at home.

Before being released, Prison authorities ordered Cohen to comply with the 14 quarantine days established by the country's health protocols.

New York, released in recent weeks to 23 people who were being held, who fulfilled more than 40% of their sentences and that they do not represent a danger to society, from various state jails, as a preventive health measure.
