The program mainstreams gender equality, inclusion and diversity in all its activities.

CIDEMO is the result of the cooperation agreement signed between UNIVO and USAID, within the framework of the Civil Society and Democracy Project in the Eastern Region supported by USAID.

With a total USAID investment of $2.9 millions of dollars, the Civil Society and Democracy Project in the Eastern Region promotes education, analysis and discussion on transparency issues, governance and democracy in the departments of San Miguel, The Union, Morazan and Usulutan, during the period of August 2018 to august 2022.

The civil society organizations from which the young participants come are: MANGROVE Association, Caritas Santiago de Maria, Ideas and Actions for Peace Foundation (QUETZALCOALT), New Granada Youth Sector Board, Development Foundation (FUNDESA), North Springs (MANORSAN) and the Foundation for Community Cooperation and Development of El Salvador (CORDS).

The graduation ceremony was presided over by the Academic Vice President of UNIVO, Maria Luisa Sevillano; USAID Deputy Director, Matt Rees, and the Director of CIDEMO, MSc Rodolfo Mejia Dietrich.
