State of Alarm in Madrid for COVID-19

The government of Spain has issued the declaration of the state of alarm in 9 municipalities of Madrid, for a period of 15 days. This measure has been confirmed this Friday and is effective immediately as announced by the authorities.

This decree is established after the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid rejected the measures approved by the Ministry of Health in which it was confined to 10 municipalities by the number of coronavirus cases.

The decision has mobility restrictions and applies in Madrid, Leganes, Alcobendas, Torrejón de Ardoz, the cities of Parla, Getafe, Mostoles, Alcorcón and Fuenlabrada. Of the Madrid cities, only Alcalá de Henares is outside this measure.

The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Marlaska, has ordered the deployment of 7 one thousand members of the National Police and the Civil Guard to comply with the mobility restriction if necessary.
