Indonesia – The eruption of the Semeru volcano, south of the island of Java in Indonesia, Lumajang residents were surprised this Saturday when they saw how a thick cloud of ash covered their homes. Many people managed to escape, but the extent of the damage is unknown.
The roofs of several houses collapsed and a bridge collapsed due to the debris and gases released by the Semeru volcano.. Emergency teams have not reported deaths from the colossus, although the search work continues.
The Semeru volcano is one of the most active in the country, have 3.676 meters high and its surroundings are permanently on orange alert. The explosion occurred at 15:30 local time and generated a momentary darkness in the area.
According to the Indonesian Volcanology Service, the risk in the area is level two, on a scale of four. It issued a flight alert to prevent some ships from circulating through the region and could crash due to the emission of gases.
