The Savior – Qualified as the largest private investment in the history of El Salvador, which exceeds $1,000 millions, This Monday the power generation plant was inaugurated pacific energy, which is located in the area of ​​Acajutla, Department of Sonsonate, in the western part of the country.

The plant has the capacity to satisfy the 30% of El Salvador's energy demand from a renewable source, natural gas, that contributes to reducing El Salvador's dependence on energy from more polluting sources.

Plant pacific energy, consists of a thermal power plant with a combined cycle of 380 megawatts, powered by a maritime liquefied natural gas terminal and a modern electrical transmission infrastructure.

“We are facing one of the most innovative and technically complex energy projects, never imagined, designed and built in the world”, explained the director of pacific energy, Alberto Osorio.

With this megaproject, the government promotes its energy strategy embodied in the Cuscatlán Plan, to get El Salvador to generate the 100% of the electrical energy it consumes.

“This project will allow diversifying the energy matrix, in fact, Since May 1, when it came into operation, we are seeing positive results.. El Salvador has not imported a single megawatt”: highlighted the president of CEL Daniel Álvarez.

He added that this project has contributed to generating more than 2 thousand jobs from its construction to the start of its operations.
