Panamanian economy stands out in the region despite the crisis generated by the pandemic

Panama reached at the end of the third quarter of 2021, a 14.9% of economic growth, one of the highest in the region and in the world, highlighted this sunday, Laurentino Cortizo President, in his report to the nation during the installation of the second legislature of the third regular session of the National Assembly.
"The fight against poverty and inequality continues to be the priority of our government with or without a pandemic", Cortizo assured.
The report included the last six months of management. "My administration has 30 months of management, of which 22 have been in pandemic ", said the Panamanian president, highlighting the economic growth of the country, despite the global crisis.
Cortizo stated that his government's budget execution was 96% in 2021, the highest of the last 15 years.
The president also referred to the recognition of international organizations in relation to the Panamanian economic recovery.
According to the latest forecasts from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Cepal), in 2022 Panama is seen as the country whose gross domestic product (Schedule) will be the fastest growing in the region, with 8,2%
Mining, construction, wholesale and retail trade and all activities related to the Interoceanic Canal and the logistics system, were the sectors that drove the economic recovery in 2021, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance MEF.
