Detained former Minister of Security Salvadoran money laundering

Former Minister of Security of the Salavdor, Rene Figueroa, He was arrested Wednesday in the Central American country accused of money laundering.

Figueroa was part of the cabinet of ministers government of former President Antonio Saca, sentenced to 10 years in prison for crimes related to corruption and diversion of money from State funds.

The Salvadoran Prosecutor's Office confirmed the arrest of Figueroa, after determining in an investigation that the former minister and his wife could not justify the increase in their financial assets.

According to the prosecution, Figueróa and his wife, benefited from more than 1,000,000 of dollars, of the Salvadoran State.
