Salvadoran delegation achieves technological cooperation with the Kingdom of Sweden

kingdom of sweden – The official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, was with the aim of strengthening diplomatic relations, political and commercial relations with that European nation, strategic ally of El Salvador for the development of smart and sustainable cities.

The first meeting of the Salvadoran officials was with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Krister Nilsson. With him it was agreed to continue promoting the development of strategic projects in El Salvador.

Likewise, establish working routes with leading Swedish companies and institutions in the world in areas such as sustainable transport, railway development, renewable energy, treatment of solid waste for the generation of electricity and energy, education, connectivity, technology, innovation, “smart cities”, sustainable development, innovation and technology, among others.

Later, the salvadoran delegation met with the director of International Collaboration Strategy of the Swedish National Office for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), Regina Summer, who gave a presentation on the processes they use to bring companies together, researchers, the public sector and the public in general towards a common goal to achieve the objectives of sustainable development and how they have managed to be among the leading countries in innovation in the world.

Likewise, explained the “Triple Helix” Innovation model that makes Sweden one of the countries with the highest rate of progress in terms of digital transformation in the world.

Undersecretary Mena announced the project of the "National Innovation Agency, Science and Technology", through which the development of digital ecosystems will be carried out in the following areas: scientific investigation, space science, smart cities, and knowledge transfer. It was agreed to initiate technical cooperation of VINNOVA with the Secretariat of Innovation of the Presidency.

Another of the work meetings was with the General Director of the Department of the Americas, Ambassador Veronika Wand- Danielsson; and the director of the Department of the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, Pontus Rosenberg, with whom they discussed the roadmap for strengthening the bilateral agenda in political areas, diplomatic and commercial.

The Salvadoran delegation is made up of the Undersecretary of Innovation, Fabrizio Mena; the interior ministers, Juan Carlos Bidegain; of Public Works, Romeo Rodriguez; Environment, Fernando Lopez; the president of the Lempa River Hydroelectric Executive Commission (THE), Daniel Alvarez, and the ambassador of El Salvador in Sweden, Patricia godinez.
