Before 448 MPs, 110 senators, special guests, leaders and international representatives, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador gave a speech inauguration in which he highlighted its main proposals for the six years begins as president.

Upon arrival at the Legislative Palace, from where he gave his inaugural address, shook hands with outgoing president Enrique Peña Nieto, who throughout the speech expressed various reactions, hearing the new president make strong criticisms of the high levels of corruption and impunity of his predecessors.

In a speech of more than an hour, López Obrador reiterated his campaign promises, ensuring that it will end the political privileges, that he will not be reelected, in clear allusion to some presidents of the Latin American left such as Evo Morales of Bolivia, Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela and Daniel Ortega from Nicaragua, among others.

The new president pledged to implement strong austerity measures, announced that his salary will be 40% less than what his predecessor earned. Likewise, that government advertising will be reduced by 50%, that there will be no car purchases for civil servants and that there will be no government offices abroad (except embassies and consulates).

He indicated that during his government there will be no hydraulic fracturing to obtain oil, nor cultivation of transgenic. He also promised to investigate the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students, Warrior status, who were disappeared the night of 24 September 2014, when gunmen from a criminal group acted in coordination with municipal police to disappear the 43 students, hurt 17 people and shoot six others, three of them students.

Among the challenges that the new president will have to face, lies the insecurity (129.000 murders and 40.000 disappearances), organized crime and drug trafficking, high rates of femicides throughout the republic, the corruption, oil theft, Unemployment, the economy and migration, many of them inherited by the outgoing administration.

Here, AMLO again reiterated and promised to fulfill his promises, but he also stressed three of the commitments that according to him are key and that he repeated many times during his electoral campaign: Do not steal, do not lie and do not betray.

Lopez Obrador, of 65 years, native of Tepetitán, Tabasco, political scientist, writer and fighter for indigenous rights, leftist social and political fighter, received the presidential sash and assumed with it the great responsibility of facing the complex problems that affect this country. Fortunately, AMLO receives strong support and confidence from the majority of the Mexican people and with a majority congress in his favor.
