In El Salvador, the official spokesman Carlos López Mendoza, you have decided to retire from your work period and enjoy your retirement, after 30 years of being part of the administrative staff of said institution; however they have been a total of 46 years that he has provided service to the Salvadoran Red Cross, 16 of which it was voluntary, managing to exercise different positions within the institution as a lifeguard, among which stood out as: Head of the National Lifeguard School, Brigade chief, head of the Central Zone and member of the second promotion of the Rescue Unit of which he was also an instructor.
“Don Carlitos ”as he is known to all, in each of his actions inside and outside the institution he has shown a true altruistic spirit, characterized by its humanism, solidarity, dedication and sacrifice towards the most vulnerable, so they describe it.
Lopez Mendoza, during his years of humanitarian work and service to the Salvadoran people, participated in various emergency operations, both internal and external to the country, in which on many occasions he has sacrificed his well-being to help the most defenseless.
Among the most prominent operations are: Hurricane Fifi (September 1974), the earthquake in Guatemala (1976), the 12 years of armed conflict in the country and the signing of the Peace Accords, the earthquake in San Salvador (1986), the two earthquakes of the 2001 in El Salvador, Hurricane Stan and the eruption of the Ilamatepec volcano.
His retirement makes it to 81 years of age and under the position of official spokesperson of the institution, which has positioned it in different national and international media, because because of his charisma, informative ability and capacity has been considered in the humanitarian field as a source of news regarding the Salvadoran Red Cross.
His greatest effort stands out precisely his empirical character in the area, it is what has earned their admiration and appreciation for his extraordinary humanitarian quality.
Carlos López Mendoza was declared Most Meritorious Son of El Salvador in the year 2016, his humanism and commitment to those most in need, He continues to show it with his desire to continue in the institution but now only as a volunteer, so the institution will always have your presence and support.
