The Savior – Authorities of the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA), signed the contract for the expansion and modernization of the cargo terminal of the El Salvador International Airport "San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez" with the consortium made up of the Honduran Emco and the German operator, Munich International Airport, which is now the first public-private association in the country.

The project will be carried out with a foreign investment of $62.3 million approximately and will be developed in two phases, one is financing, design, extension, construction, equipping and operating the existing infrastructure, with a budget of $ 13.3 millions, within a period of up to 15 years.

"The concessionaire will finance, will design, will equip, will maintain and operate the works that allow the transfer of import and export products efficiently in the cargo terminal ", explained the president of CEPA, Federico Anliker.

Phase two consists of financing, design, construction, equipment, maintenance and operation of a new cargo terminal with a budget of $49 millions, within 20 years.

The executive president of Adimex El Salvador, Peter Fleming, highlighted that the expansion and modernization of the cargo terminal of the International Airport will benefit El Salvador with employment, economic development and infrastructure.

The duration of the contract will be up to a maximum of 35 years, CEPA and the Civil Aviation Authority will be in charge of monitoring compliance with the contract that will conclude in the year 2056.
