U.S – The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service announced a change in its policy for those covered by TPS, who leave the country with a travel permit and return, by facilitating their legal admission, which paves the way to permanent residency.

The Biden government changed the rules that Trump established in August 2020, that did not allow those covered by the program to leave the country with travel permits to be admitted back into the country.

The former government of the United States, argued that TPS, by its nature of being temporary, should not allow immigrants to stay, but when they finished they had to return to their country of origin.

According to ASOSAL, what happened in the administration of Donald Trump was a wrong and distorted interpretation of the intention that Congress had when it created the temporary program. The current government changed its interpretation and makes clear the new benefits that will reach millions of people waiting to regularize their status in the country.

The TPS (Temporary Protected Status, in Spanish) allows those who arrived irregularly in the United States to obtain a work permit with which they can qualify for better conditions and the freedom to move around the country without being arrested and sent back to their countries.

For many years, Millions of people protected the TPS, was eliminated in the administration of former President Donald Trump, but it started up again and the administration of Joe Bien advanced new benefits for those covered by this treaty.
